Make School Loans Affordable

by Abraham John Perry

Dear Watchers:

If we are to reach a more sustainable future, one that is beneficial to all inhabitants globally, then we must invest in our education and make it more affordable to all. With globalization at the center of it all, the trading of knowledge and experience is easier than ever; likewise, we must make education a top priority so that we may reach a population that is well knowledgeable across multiple facets, on a global scale. However, we are working towards the exact opposite with the price of tuition growing and interest rates on school loans that lock students into long-term debt. Through this, we not only demote the importance of education, but also make it unappealing and practically impossible to those of less opportunity. If we are to reach that brighter future, we must make school loans available with the same interest rates that banks receive them, or even less. We must make education available to all without placing a lifelong burden on the same shoulders from which we expect progress from. We must promote education and return to making it a standard for all, not just a pricy option.

By educating all and decreasing the cost to do so, we will also help to disassemble the great disparity between the rich and poor. We will give more opportunities to everyone to reach to a higher social status and create a society where there is more equality amongst all its individuals. A lot of society’s problems arise from this disparity; one created from people having an unfair chance at social status and success, determined through personal wealth and other measurable monetary value. By educating all, we will create a one track minded society; one that collectively works together towards the same goal of creating a future of equal opportunity and sustainability.
