Whatcom Watch Receives Letter Accusing Libel

As many members of our community are aware, the Whatcom Watch received a “Notice of Libel and Request for Corrective Action” from Craig Cole regarding a Whatcom Watch article that discussed the Gateway Pacific Terminal proposal.
We take matters of libel and our responsibility to those who are the subject of our news stories seriously. We also take our obligation to provide accurate news on “issues of environment, media and government primarily in Whatcom County” to our local community seriously.
We are attempting to procure pro bono legal assistance so that we can resolve this matter through quick and appropriate means. We are unable to comment further about this issue now.
We appreciate the continued patience and understanding of the community, and particularly that of our supporters.
